The Principality of Liechtenstein is a doubly landlocked alpine country in Central Europe, bordered by Switzerland to the west and south and by Austria to the east. Its area is just over 160 square kilometers (62 sq mi), and it has an estimated population of 35,000. Its capital is Vaduz. The biggest town is Schaan. Liechtenstein has the second highest gross domestic product per person in the world when adjusted by purchasing power parity, and has the world’s lowest external debt. Liechtenstein also has the second lowest unemployment rate in the world at 1.5% (Monaco is first).
Marcy and I took a train on one of the days we were in Zurich Switzerland out to Liechtenstein. We had to take the train to the city Schaan and then a bus into Vaduz. We went to the city center where the Visitor Information building is located so that we can get our passports stamped. Seems like a lot of trouble, but when you are that close, you might as well take the trip. We basically shopped a little bit, walked to McDonalds and then took the bus and train back to Zurich. Not to bad of a day.
