Adventures in Canada:
We decided to use some Alaska Airlines points and take a trip to Victoria, British Columbia, Canada for a long weekend. After landing at Victoria International Airport, we rented a car and drove south on the 17 toward downtown Victoria. After checking into our hotel, we parked and walked around the harbor area. The first building you can’t miss is the Fairmont Empress. It is striking with ivy on the outside and the old world look. If you go there, you have to walk around the building and see the bee hives and beautiful flowers. It is amazing.
As you can see by the pictures the gardens are fantastic. We then walked around the harbor. You can’t miss the British Columbia Parliament Buildings off to the left.
The harbor area is great to walk around and there is killer food places on the boardwalk. We took a harbor taxi around the harbor just to see the buildings and see where else to go.
We did go into the Royal BC Museum and walk through to get a feel of the history. They basically start the clock with Woolly Mammoths all the way up to today.
We had two other stops we wanted to get in while we were there, one was China town, which is really about 1 block long, but the entrance reminds me of the one in San Francisco.
Our last stop was Craigdarroch Castle. Built by coal baron Robert Dunsmuir during the reign of Queen Victoria.
That was the majority of our trip for a weekend vacation. We took our time and drove the coast north back to the airport looking for great foodie places to eat. We had a great time and recommend a weekend Victoria Canada!
